Traffic:

The Cullman City Street Department will have painting and cleaning crews at the city parking deck.

Weather:

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 44. North wind around 5 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Of note:

Hand quilting workshop: The Cullman County Extension Agency will hold a hand quilting workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 8, and Jan. 10, at the North Alabama Heritage Center, 1714 Tallyho Road SW, Cullman 35055. Cost is $20. All supplies will be furnished. Register by calling the Extension Agency at 256-737-9386. Workshop fee needs to be paid by Jan. 7, at the Extension Agency office at 402 Arnold St. NE, Ste. G-1, Cullman 35055.

The art of rug making: The Cullman County Extension Agency will hold a rug crafting workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 21. Cost is $10. All supplies will be furnished; participants will complete a small trivet to take home - maybe to use or add more material to create a floor rug or throw rug! Register by calling the Extension Agency at 256-737-9386; fee due by Feb. 20...bring by the office at 402 Arnold St. NE, Ste. G-1, Cullman 35055.

Beauty pageant for missions: Grace Community Church, 9350 Highway 278 E, Cullman 35055, is sponsoring a beauty pageant to be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the church. All proceeds will go to the church’s missions fund for a trip to Brazil. Early bird discount deadline is Jan. 12, $30 deposit holds place in line and early bird discount. Contestants will compete in beauty/formal wear and can wear optional Valentine outfit of choice. CCFK closed until Monday: The Cullman Caring For Kids Food Bank (402 Arnold St. NE, Ste. W-1, Cullman 35055) will be closed until Monday, Jan. 7, when it will open from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. These are the food bank’s regular hours for Monday, Tuesday and Friday. The food bank is not open on other days of the week.
