CULLMAN — A site plan for a Jim ‘N Nick’s restaurant has been approved on Cherokee Avenue in Cullman, and site work could begin in the coming months.

Submitted by St. John & Associates, the site plan for the popular barbecue chain was approved this week by the Cullman planning commission.

According to the application, the new restaurant will be located on Cherokee Avenue on the south side of the city, between Bojangles and Five Guys Burgers and Fries near the Wal-Mart shopping center.

When contacted earlier this week, a spokesperson with Jim ‘N Nick’s declined to comment due to pending negotiations.

Cullman Economic Development Agency officials also declined to comment because the deal has yet to be completely finalized.

With a site plan approved, the project could potentially move forward and start site work within a matter of months.

The southern-based restaurant chain has approximately 30 locations open across Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado and South Carolina.

The Cherokee Avenue corridor has become a popular area for restaurants and retail projects, with the addition of TJ Maxx, Five Guys, Bojangles, two frozen yogurt shops a new AT&T store and the soon-to-open Shane’s Rib Shack, among others, all opening on or just-off Cherokee in recent years.
