Colony town clerk passes away in her sleep

— Colony Town Clerk Heather Royster, seen in this 2010 file photo, passed away this week at the age of 38. She worked as Colony’s town clerk for nearly three years.

Former Mayor Morris Fitts said Royster was a hard worker and great asset for the town while she was working during his term.

Royster reportedly passed away in her sleep and was found in her home Wednesday morning. The cause of death has not yet been released.

A graveside service will be held at New Oak Grove Cemetery in Nauvoo on Saturday, August 17, at 11 a.m.
