CULLMAN — The Cullman Caring for Kids food bank is about to get a much-needed boost Sunday.

The Cullman Lions Club and Cullman County Fair are dedicating this day to helping the food bank. Admission to the fair today will require only a $2 donation or two cans of food. The food and money will go directly to the local good bank.

“That’s what we want people to know. This money and donations will go to the food bank. We want to make sure there is food around the clock so that no children in our area go hungry,” said Lions Club member Dennis Berse.

While the cans of food are welcome as admission to the fair, Berse noted that cash makes a greater impact on the food bank. A $2 donation at the gate buys 14 pounds of food.

Berse said the event today will count toward this year’s Cullman Times Cares & Shares Food Drive, which will officially launch on Sept. 30.

Cullman Caring for Kids is a nonprofit agency that provides food for needy residents as well as educational services concerning child abuse.
