The annual Oktoberfest celebration will begin Saturday. Please check online Saturday morning for a map and the schedule of festivities to take place. The menus for German meals will also be posted on our website at that time. This week-long celebration of the county’s German heritage promises lots of laughs, photo ops and a walk back in history! Don’t forget to visit the Cullman Museum, too!
Not to be missed! The special Oktoberfest choir will be hosted by Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. The Combined Choirs Concert, in which seven area church’s choirs will raise their voices in unison, will perform at 3 p.m. in SH’s Family Life Center, 112 2nd Ave. SE, Cullman 35055. The much-anticipated Youthquake will be in Cullman Saturday. It will begin at 2 p.m. (doors open at noon) at the Cullman County Fairgrounds. The full line-up includes Willet at 2:15 p.m.; Bread of Stone at 2:40 p.m.; Da T.R.U.T.H. at 3:15 p.m.; Disciple at 3:55 p.m.; Family Force 5 at 4:55 p.m.; Generation Band 6:20 p.m.; speaker Josh Kimes at 6:35 p.m.; Youthquake worship at 6:55 p.m. and Switchfoot at 8 p.m. The festival is scheduled to end at approximately 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the gate. Chamber seeking full-time tourism director; creates new board
The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce is ramping up its focus on tourism, and is now seeking a full-time tourism director. The agency has also created a new, 11-person tourism board to focus solely on promoting travel and tourism in the area.
Plans to add a full-time tourism director have been in the works for almost a year, in cooperation with the City of Cullman and Cullman County Commission. -
Unsheltered International leads local effort to help storm victims
From their hometown of Cullman, to Joplin, Mo., and even Staten Island, NY., Dr. Travis Sharpe and members of Unsheltered International have provided hot meals, shelter, and delivered supplies to those in need after a natural disaster.
