Truck hits side of Texaco station

CULLMAN — A motorist hit the side of a Texaco food mart Monday after reporting that he blacked out while pulling into the parking lot.

William Jacob Hall, 24, of Cullman, said he blacked out behind the wheel of his Ford truck, hitting the side of the Texaco food mart on highway 69 next to Subway.

“I was coming in to get something to eat, and I remember pulling in and it was like I just passed out; I don’t know,” Hall said.

Jeff Warnke with the Cullman police department said that he and members of the Cullman Fire Department were the first to arrive on the scene. The accident occurred around noon.

“Upon arrival, the truck was sitting here, where it is now, and we spoke to the driver and he stated that he didn’t know what happened, he blacked out; he couldn’t fill a whole lot of the details in.” Warnke said. “There were no witnesses, so we’re just going to have to take his word for it.”

Hall hit the back side of the building, as well as the air conditioning unit.

“Luckily, there was no more damage to the building than there is,” Warnke said. “We’ll be doing a report and it will be handled between his insurance company and the Texaco station.”
