Tonight: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild: The Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. today at the Cullman County Museum at 211 2nd Ave. NE, Cullman 35055. Visitors welcome.

Beautification awards nomination deadline is today: Verizon Wireless is the 2013 sponsor of the Cullman Chamber’s 22nd annual Community Improvement Beautification Awards. Plant sale: The Cullman County Master Gardeners will sell their plants at the Strawberry Festival today and Saturday at Depot Park. Also, information for the upcoming Master Gardeners Class 2014 will be available. For more information, contact Lora Raley at 256-775-7407.

Pancake breakfast: The Holly Pond Lions Club will hold a pancake breakfast from 6 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holly Pond Lions Club Park, 147 Lions Club Park Road, Holly Pond 35083. $5 all you can eat: Pancakes, bacon, sausage, coffee, orange juice, milk. Sugar-free syrup available on request. All proceeds benefit the Lions Club Sight Project.

Book sale at the county library: The Cullman County Public Library will hold a book sale from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 200 Clark St. NE, Cullman 35055. Calling all bikers - Bug Run Saturday: Charlie Leather’s “Bug Run” will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Charlie’s, 230 Highway 278 W, Cullman. The run is to benefit “Hunt of a Lifetime Foundation,” for children 21 years and younger with a life-threatening disease. Pre-register for the 120-mile ride (takes about 2 hours and 37 minutes) at Charlie’s or register day of ride. Cost is $25/rider; $30 with passenger. Food, music, door prizes.
