Holly Pond to host annual Founder’s Day event

Holly Pond will hold its 10th annual Founder’s Day festival on  Sept. 28, from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m., at the town park.

The event is organized by the Founder’s Day planning committee comprised of members of the Holly Pond Civitan Club, Holly Pond Historical Society, Holly Pond Homemakers Club, Lions Club, Merchants Association, the town council and is free to the public. Mayor Herman Nail said there will be a few changes in comparison to previous years.

“We’re still using the park, but we will also have the Guy Hunt Library and Museum opened to the public all day,” Nail said. “In the meeting room, vendors will be selling quilts that people make in the community. This year instead of walking a long way to the trail in the park, booths will be set up around the ball field. That way, it’s not very far to walk to see what people have to sale since we have a lot of senior citizens coming up there now. It’s not much of a hill for someone who is in good shape, but I know it gets tiresome for some of the elderly people who attend the festival.”

Planners have modified the festival this year to include Flea Market vendors, as well as, arts and craft vendors. The 2013 event will include:

Quilt show sponsored by Holly Pond Homemakers Club

 Demonstrations by Fiber Guild

Historical displays by Holly Pond Historical Society

 Guy Hunt Museum and Library

 Arts and craft vendors

 Flea market vendors
