Times' Food Drive gets boost; donations accepted until 5

The Cullman Times

CULLMAN — The Cullman Times’ Cares & Shares Food Drive is picking up momentum today with generous donations from Cullman High School and Cullman Community Lions leading the way.

The food drive total had soared to more than 43,000 pounds by lunchtime today. Donations are being accepted until at least 5 p.m. today.

A check donation of $100, for example, will equal 700 pounds of food.

Cullman High donated more than $2,100 today, which equals 14,700 pounds of food. Cullman Community Lions brought a check for $500, which adds 3,500 pounds to the total.

The goal this year is 125,000 pounds, but today is the last day to give.

Oktoberfest continues to sell chances on a decorative stein. Those sales will continue until midnight tonight. The money collected from the chances will go directly to the food drive, which benefits Cullman Caring for Kids food bank. The local food bank is serving the needs of more than 500 families per month in Cullman County.

Please take time to bring your donation by the Times office today at 300 Fourth Avenue SE, Cullman. For additional information call 256-734-2131, ext. 213, and ask for David Palmer.
