HOLLY POND — Before now, Holly Pond Mayor Herman Nail never had an exact date to give when responding to questions pertaining to the opening of the town's library.

Now, he can say for sure.

During the council's regular monthly meeting this week, it was announced it will open four days a week beginning Tuesday.

"I'm excited as a kid with a new toy at Christmas," said council member Bartee Bryan. "We've been working on this thing for two years and spent a lot of time planning this building and everything else. I'm just excited to see it open. I think it's going to be a great benefit to the town of Holly Pond and surrounding areas."

Bryan wasn't the only excited about the news.

"It's been something everybody's been eager to get open, including the council,  but we didn't want to jump put and have to back way up and say, 'no, we can't do that,'" Nail said. "We took our time to get it right."

The announcement of the opening came on the heels of the introduction of the library's two librarians — Melanie Camp, and Tanya Hays.

"I think we've got two good ones," Nail said. "

As of now, Nail said the library will be open Tuesday through Friday from 1-6 p.m.

"This is not set in stone," Nail said. "We're going to kind of have to work it out to see when people will be coming and going. We may have to open on Saturday's too, but that's something we can adjust to as we go along."

A grand opening will be scheduled for a later date.

In other business, the council also announced the addition of a medical clinic in town. Jasper Estes is renovating an old store that will provide space to Dr. Zaheer Khan and Dr. Muhammad Ata, both representatives of Horizon Medical Clinic LLC.

"It's going to be good," Nail said. "They've already gotten their business license, so they'll be able to operate in Holly Pond. There all set to go, they're just waiting on everything to be finished up where they can move in."

Nail closed the meeting with an unveiling of the town flag, which will be flown at the town hall.
