The Cullman Times
Service above self.
It's the principal motto of the Cullman Rotary Club.
On Thursday, Rotary members recognized 10 high school seniors from each school in the county with a luncheon during the club's annual Service Above Self Vocational program at the Cullman Elk’s Lodge.
"Every year we receive resumes I think, 'Well, they just can't get any better next year.'" Sandra Watts said. "But we got the ultimate level wrong because there are some outstanding students that are here today."
Those honored include, Cold Springs' Haven Watson, Cullman's John Weeks, Fairview's Heather West, Good Hope's Luke Parker, Hanceville's Leah Doiron, Holly Pond's Ashleigh Sims, St. Bernard's John Phillip Schneider, Vinemont's Rachel Sellers, West Point's Laney Hembree, and Cullman Christian's Eliza Siegenthaler. Each received an engraved award plaque, and a $100 monetary donation.
“A lot of these students work jobs and go to school,” Watts said. “Each year I’m amazed at the service and ability these kids put back into the community.”
