Grab your shotgun and make a difference! Merchants Bank Relay For Life Team will host a skeet shoot Saturday, Aug. 18, at Maple Ridge, 2080 County Road 420, Cullman 35057. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society for Relay For Life.
Day-of-registration fee is $30 at 7:30 a.m. Competition begins at 8 a.m.
Prizes will be given to first-, second- and third-place shooters. All participants must sign a Waiver of Liability form. A parent/guardian must sign for and accompany anyone under the age of 18; minimum age participant is 9 years of age.
Ballroom dancing and hors d’oeuvres! Come see who are tripping the light fantastic — or just trippin’! The Circle of Hope Relay For Life Team will present an evening of dancing Saturday, Aug. 18, with “our stars”: Dr. Vicki Hawsey, Dr. Vince Carolowics, Dr. Jan Harris, Billy Coleman, Betty Leeth Haynes, Shirley Quattlebaum, Judge Rusty Turner, Jimmy Drake, Mavis Martin, Ben Harrison, Rev. Bob Kurtz, Don Green, April Burgess and Andy Page.
Held at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre at Wallace State Community College, hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6 p.m. with dancing begining at 7 p.m. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

Looking for some good ol’ fashioned fun? Want to improve your crocheting skills and come away with a beautiful craft? Then attend the Cullman Fiber Guild’s “Crochet A Rag Rug” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Peinhardt Living History Farm, 1701 Tally Ho St., Cullman 35055. Cost is $1. All you need to bring, besides a packed lunch, is an old sheet, at least 1 yard of cloth, a good pair of scissors and a large crochet hook (size N or larger). Does your canine run wild through the house? Refuse your suggestions or commands? Maybe this class is for you! Cullman City Parks and Recreation will sponsor one-hour dog obedience classes will begin Monday, Aug. 20, at the McGukin Civic Center, 510 5th St. SW, Cullman 35055, and will continue for six weeks on Mondays. Cost is $50. Here is the schedule:
6 p.m. Puppy class for dogs under 6 months;
7 p.m. Adult dogs for over 6 months;
