Local leaders flew to Washington this week to brief the congressional delegation on the region’s cooperative goals for 2011 and beyond.
The visit, sponsored by the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce, represents the annual fly-in that city and county officials and business leaders make in an effort to update congressional leaders on how Cullman is progressing with its long-range goals to expand business and infrastructure in the area.
This year’s fly-in saw a presentation of five targeted projects that local officials are hoping will warrant federal assistance. Those include three highway improvement projects, the Duck River Reservoir construction project and the expansion of the Cullman rail yard, which operator CSX Rail has thus far resisted.
