SMITH LAKE —
Residents who live on Smith Lake and travel County Road 950 will have to find an alternate route until further notice.
According to Cullman County Commission place 2 seat holder Stanley Yarbrough, a portion of the road is now closed after it collapsed Friday afternoon from heavy rain.
"We've had trouble and issues with this road for years," Yarbrough said. "And it finally got away from us."
Until the road can be repaired, Yarbrough advised residents to use County Road 4000 to get in and out of the area.
"Until we can get a new cut made, those residents will have to use the temporary road," he said. "We're working as fast as we can."
As of Monday morning, the county was working to get a new piece of right-of-way in order to build a new road around the damaged part.
