One minute after receiving an alarm call, officers were on the scene at a break-in at Hospital Discount Pharmacy on Highway 278 at 4 a.m. Monday.
Lt. Gene Bates said when officers arrived, they found the front window had been broken and the suspect was already gone.
“The suspect simply broke the window, ran to the back of the store and then exited; he was probably in there no more than 10 seconds,” Bates said. “At this time we’re not positive if he took anything; from the video we think he dropped what he took from the pharmacy because we recovered it outside the pharmacy, but until the inventory is accounted for, we won’t know for sure.”
Bates said Sgt. Terry Gilliand, officers Matt Hollingsworth, Matt Tucker, and Roy Bates were the responders to the break-in and they located a box of syringes outside the pharmacy.
“I wanted to commend the officers for their quick response, especially considering the fact the suspect was only in the pharmacy for a few seconds,” Bates said.
The security system video was viewed by police. He’s described as a white male, bald, heavy set, clean-shaven, and in his mid 20s to 30s.
Bates said if anyone recognizes the suspect to contact investigators at the Cullman Cullman City Police Department at 256-734-2868.
