It’s been several years since the town of Baileyton had a place for citizens to go when needing prompt and convenient outpatient medical care.
But soon, they once again will.
During its regular monthly meeting in January, the town council agreed to provide space to Dr. Zaheer Khan and Dr. Muhammad Ata, both representatives of Horizon Medical Clinic LLC, at the Medical Center building near the town’s new fire station.
“I think this will work out great,” Mayor Johnny Dyar said. “I feel it’s something that’s needed out here.”
As part of the lease agreement that was signed by the doctors and council members last week, it was stated that one year free rent will be provided, but that the tenant must pay the electric bill. After the year is up, rent would be $400, with the tenants having the option to renew the lease yearly for 10 years.
Dyar said the clinic will be open Monday through Friday, with the hours still to be set. He added if everything goes according to schedule, the clinic should be open around the middle of March.
“I think it’s something that will go over real well out here,” he said.
In other business, the council:
announced the meeting room at the old fire station will be available for rentals soon for $30 per day.
discussed the possibility of changing the Baileyton polling place from Town Hall to the Senior Center. A decision was tabled until next month.
