State: Sheriff probes reports of hit list at high school

GARDENDALE, Ala. — Jefferson County sheriff’s officials say they’re investigating possible threats to some students at Gardendale High School.

Sheriff’s officials said in a statement they’re investigating reports that a 15-year-old student had a list of people he was going to shoot when he “went off and shot up the school.”

The sheriff’s office said the student reportedly told some of the students they were on his list to shoot.

Authorities say no such list had been located. Sheriff’s officials have confiscated the teen’s computer to look for any threats or lists involved with the case.

Sheriff’s officials said the teen, who said he was joking, was removed from school and has been admitted to a hospital for a mental evaluation.
