City schools closing; wrecks escalating throughout area

CULLMAN — Cullman City Schools will be closing early today because of weather conditions.

Cullman Primary, East Elementary and West Elemetary schools will close at noon. Cullman Middle School and Cullman High School will release students at 12:15 p.m. today, said superintendent Dr. Jan Harris

All after-school programs, including extended day, have been canceled.

County schools are closing at 1 p.m. Wallace State Community College is closing at 12:15 p.m.

Officials are also reporting that a portion of Alabama 157 around County Road 1101 is closing temporarily due to an accident involving a tractor-trailer rig.

Police officials are also reporting wrecks throughout the county, including along U.S. 31. Motorists are asked to travel only when necessary and move slowly because of worsening road conditions.
