Cullman City Police officials, EMS workers, and Heritage Park staff members joined in Thursday morning to do a walk-through of Heritage in preparation for the Rock the South event.
Assistant Police Chief Craig Green said the on-site survey allowed multiple local departments to get on the same page about safety questions.
“It was an opportunity to see all the planning in person,” Green said. “Everyone spent an hour working together ensuring we make the event as safe and enjoyable as possible.”
Green said the police department obtained a security tower to assist in the event this weekend and they were very appreciative to Fultondale for use of the tool.
Construction workers at a site adjacent to the park were on site checking out what was taking place at the park, and offered friendly advice while looking through the fence themselves that surrounded Heritage Park: ”Don’t think about hopping this fence for the concert.”
It might seem like an easily accessible way to get into the event without paying, but all areas will be maintained and secure. Authorities say they will be on the lookout for anyone trying to enter illegally.
Doors will open for Rock the South at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
