The Cullman City Police Department will have four-to-five extra officers on patrol due to the threat of inclement weather this afternoon.
Assistant police chief Craig Green said having extra officers on patrol is typically done in preparation for the possibility of threatening weather situations.
“We went to a briefing yesterday about today’s potential for bad weather and we have asked our day shift people to stay over until the warnings expire or the weather passes,” Green said. “If the weather clears up, then we will end the extra personnel quicker, but if not, we will have them for as long as they are needed.”
Green said during threatening weather situations he and police chief Kenny Culpepper, “Prepare for the worst, and hope for the best.”
The latest update for Cullman County shows a severe thunderstorm watch will expire around 7 p.m.
