CULLMAN — Good morning, Cullman County, here's your traffic and weather news for today, with additional events happening this weekend:

Traffic:



1st Division Engineer, Johnny Harris, with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) reports that Highway 31 from Highway 69 to just south of Highway 94, is currently being resurfaced and work on this road will continue until sometime before fall. There will be some lane closures, so drivers should leave early to allow time for delays in this area.



Weather:



Time to carry those umbrellas! Showers and thunderstorms likely today. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 97. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Tonight — a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southwest wind around 5 mph.



This weekend:



Food bank will be open at the Garden City Church of God from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Church is at 123 Short St. SW, Garden City 35070. Info: Diane West 256-739-3791, Kathy Day at 256-352-5787 or Rhonda Davis at 256-962-2208.



Grab a partner and head on out to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2214. The dance will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays at the VFW. Music will be provided by the Boogie Night band. The cost is $5 per person; public welcome.
