CULLMAN — Good morning, readers, this is what's happening in your county today:

Traffic:

The Cullman City Street Department will have an asphalt patch crew on 3rd Ave.; no traffic delays expected. Also, Sunset Drive is still closed; drivers should seek alternate routes.

CSX Railroad has opened Mitchell Road between Highway 31 and Childhaven Road NE.

Weather:

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Tonight: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

CERA: The Cullman Educators Retiree Associatin will meet at 11 a.m. today at the Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center, 916 Convent Road, Cullman 35055. Topic: Cullman Library. Lunch offered.

Looking ahead:

Circle of Hope’s archery tourney: The Circle of Hope’s Shoot For A Cure 3D archery shoot will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 27 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28 at Camp David, 3735 County Road 940, Cullman 35057. Entry fee is $15 or join the Fun Round for $8. All score cards must be turned in by 4 p.m. July 28. Sunday breakfast served at 8 a.m. Guest speaker will be Steton Hayes. Awards will be presented to competition winners. Concessions available; shooters may register for door prizes free; also, auction items for bidding. Summer youth camps: Cullman City Parks and Recreation will host several camps this summer. Registration for all activities will be at the McGukin Civic Center-Cullman. Archery camp July 29-Aug. 2. Campers will meet from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cullman Archery Park. For ages 7-14. Cost will be $75.

Junior tennis lessons: Session 3 will begin July 8 at 8 a.m.: Beginners Monday-Thursday; intermediate and advanced on same days at 9 a.m.
