CULLMAN —
Cullman Regional Medical Center CEO Jim Weidner was arrested for DUI this past Friday.
Weidner, 52, of Cullman, was stopped by Alabama State Troopers at 11:15 p.m. traveling southbound on Interstate 65 near exit 308 for following a vehicle too closely. He was charged with DUI and spent the night in the Cullman County Detention Center before bonding out Saturday morning.
Weidner did not respond to multiple phone messages from The Times by press time Wednesday night.
According to the Alabama Court System Database, Weidner had no prior DUI charges or alcohol-related arrests in Alabama, although he received citations from Alabama State Troopers for speeding in 2007 and again in 2010.
Officers with the Health Care Authority of Cullman County — whose board of directors named Weidner the hospital’s CEO five years ago — either declined to comment or did not return calls placed by The Times Wednesday.
