— A Cullman man was arrested on an unlawful distribution warrant after he tried to renew his driver’s license in Huntsville Wednesday afternoon.

Ronald W. Morgan, 56, of Hanceville, was arrested on an unlawful distribution of a controlled substance warrant from 2012. Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team Director Joey Cone said Morgan tried to renew his license at a Huntsville courthouse and after running his information through the system, the clerk realized he had an active warrant for his arrest.

“When the clerk found the warrants on him, she notified the police and he was then transferred to Priceville where a Cullman police officer met and picked him up,” Cone said. “Huntsville police transported him to Highway 67 because it was a halfway point for Cullman officers to travel to.”

Cone said Morgan sold methamphetamine to undercover CNET members on two occasions and the warrant was initially released in July of 2012, when Morgan allegedly fled the area and was just located.

Morgan is being held at the Cullman County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
