Accident reported on U.S. Hwy. 31 (Updated)

CULLMAN — Officers and paramedics are responding at the scene of an accident on U.S. Highway 31 north of Vinemont.

Cullman County Sheriff's deputies said the wreck occurred about one mile north of the traffic signal at the Vinemont intersection of Highway 31 and old U.S. Highway 31 (County Road 1223).

Cullman County sheriff Mike Rainey said the accident resulted in minor injuries. The northbound lane of Highway 31 was temporarily blocked while paramedics assisted at the scene.

The driver of a delivery vehicle, who was transported to Cullman Regional Medical Center with an arm injury, was unable to complete the delivery of sensitive medical equipment in his crashed vehicle. Rainey visited the scene and left en route to local pharmacies, to complete the delivery.

Deputies estimated the road would be cleared by 1 p.m.
