Long lines at ALDI grand opening

— Shoppers swarmed the parking lot of ALDI Food Market Thursday as Cullman’s newest business held its grand opening and ribbon cutting.

Employees reported seeing customers lined up outside ALDI around 8:15 a.m., a good 45 minutes before doors opened, to shop and sample products. Store manager Daniel Vinson feels ALDI’s low prices and double-back guarantee are two reasons Cullman residents should shop at the new location.

“We try to be as competitive on everything that we can be as you’ll see with our low prices, the one thing that I really want to focus on is our double-guarantee,” Vinson said. “I know some people might be scared to try products that they don’t know about, but they can come in ALDI, buy something, and if they don’t like it, they can bring it back and get the money back they spent on the product. They also get to pick another product of the same value and try for free, so it’s a double-guarantee. That’s one of the things customers will find, we are always trying to satisfy them, that’s our number one priority so everyone leaves here happy.”

First time ALDI shopper Angie Baker said not only will she come back, but she recommends others to give ALDI Food Market a shot as well.

“The prices seem to be a lot cheaper than other places, and they have a large variety which is unique,” Baker said. “I’m off today and my mother called me and said ALDI was having a grand opening so we said ‘let’s go.’”

Troy Marshall, Vice President with the ALDI Mount Juliet Tennessee Division said the brands the food market carries is what makes ALDI unique .

“It’s the same quality you will find anywhere else, but certainly with a much lower retail here,” Marshall said.

Marshall said grand openings are usually more rambunctious than regular business days, but thankfully it shows the public’s interest in the new business.

“We were really excited about grand opening day, it’s going to be different where the parking will be a little limited, but we actually have plenty of parking for all of our customers,” Marshall said.

ALDI food market is located at 1831 Cherokee Avenue next to Bojangles, and across from Arby’s in Cullman. The store’s hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. on Sunday.
