For children 16 and under who like to fish, a free fishing event will be held at the Hanceville Veterans Park on April 27 from 8-11 a.m.
Retired Game Warden and Omega Hospice worker John Raley has been working with the event for 14 years and encourages anyone who enjoys fishing to come to the Fish-O-Rama.
“We want to introduce young people to fishing and outdoor sports and also, give children time with their parents,” Raley said. “This is for the kids, adults aren’t allowed to fish, but can help with the children.”
A free lunch will be served for participants around 11 a.m. Trophies will also be given out based on the total weight of the fish that is caught for different age categories.
Each participant is responsible for bringing their own fishing equipment and bait.
