Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Saturday night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. South wind around 5 mph.

Best bets for today and beyond:

Bunco, spaghetti fundraiser: Hanceville Assembly of God, 402 Shady Lane Dr. SW, Hanceville 35077, will hold a Bunco tournament at 4 p.m. Saturday at the church. Also, a spaghetti dinner will be served. Cost is $20/person (meal and tournament). Also, raffles and door prizes. All proceeds to benefit the church building fund. Swamp John’s fundraiser: Mt. Vernon FCM Church, 3115 County Road 1069, Vinemont 35179, will hold a Swamp John’s meal from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday with all proceeds benefitting church needs.

VFW Saturday night dance: The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2214 will have a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the VFW. Music will be provided by the Boogie Night band. The cost is $5 per person. VFW building rentals are available Fridays. Info: Commander Randy McGraw at 256-590-9405.

New motorcycle club: Local motorcycle riders have formed a new chapter of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club (SCRC). The Blount County SCRC, Chapter 483, is open to all riders in Blount, Cullman and surrounding counties with all makes of motorcycles who want to enjoy safe group riding and make new friends. The chapter is the newest of 30 chapters in Alabama.

The Southern Cruisers Riding Club is a free, family-oriented motorcycle national riding club that uses the web to communicate and focuses on the enjoyment and fellowship of riding motorcycles while doing so safely. There are no fees, dues or meeting requirements.

The new chapter will hold an organizational meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday at About Bikes, a motorcycle shop located at 9014 US Highway 31 across from the Top Hat restaurant in Blount Springs.
