CULLMAN —  

Weather:

Today a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Tonight a 30 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. North wind 10 to 15 mph.

Public meetings:

The Colony town council will meet at 6 p.m. at town hall to decide if the town clerk should be authorized to pay bills until the mayor and council is determined.



Best bets:

The Pilot Club will hold a rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cullman County Fairgrounds in building 1. All proceeds from fundraisers will be used to benefit local agencies and events with focus on brain-related disorders. Members will be selling chances for Iron Bowl tickets are 1/$5 or 5/$20.

The old Farmers’ market is open today. Expected hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. — which varies with different farmers. It is located on Young St. NE between 1st and 2nd avenues. Just down from Sno Biz and Depot Park, with parking on Young St. NE.



Recovery meetings:

The Cullman Downtown Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at noon at 321 2nd Ave. SW in Cullman with the regular open discussion meeting at noon. All meetings are non-smoking.



Reminders:

The Goldridge Volunteer Fire Department will be testing fire hydrants this week. All hydrants in the Goldridge Fire Department coverage will be tested and flushed during this week. Please monitor your water for temporary discoloring during this time.



The cutoff date for registering to vote, or for making any name or address changes on your registrations application for the Presidential election, is close of business today. The courthouse is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No applications will be accepted without date of birth and signature. Any information on absentee ballots must go through the Circuit Clerk's office (Robert Bates) on the third floor.
