CULLMAN — With autumn here, the Cullman sanitation department wants to remind city residents of the local guidelines and procedures for limb and trash removal.

Brush and limbs should be placed within 5 feet of the curb, though not in the street. Any brush should also be placed away from cars and mailboxes to allow access for removal.

Limbs must be less than 6 feet in length, while stumps and tree parts must weigh less than 75 pounds.

The sanitation department is only allowed to pick up three cubic yards of debris per-stop.

Any limbs should be separated from landscaping material and trash; while contractors are responsible for removing limbs and yard debris they have serviced.

No dirt, rocks or concrete will be picked up.

If an extra pickup is needed for appliances, wood, metal, or any other rubbish, debris or garbage contact the department at 256-737-7560 to schedule a pick up.

A fee will be charged based on quantity and weight.

One recycling bin is available per household residence (not available for apartment complexes or commercial) and are picked up weekly. Recycling dumpsters are also available at each city school campus for public use.

Residents using the weekly trash pick up service need a trash can that is 32 gallons or less in size; has two handles and must be watertight with a tight-fitting lid or top. Drums or barrels cannot be used as garbage containers.

The sanitation department routinely sprays citywide for mosquitos.
