Life on the farm

CULLMAN — Sacred Heart third graders get busy in the cotton patch Friday, taking in one of the October School Days field trips at the Peinhardt Living History Farm.

Students from several area schools toured the farm throughout the day, getting a look into how working life on the land has propelled local agriculture. Educational vignettes at each stop along the way are led by local volunteers, who bring decades of farming knowledge to the experience. The Peinhardt Farm is also gearing up for its annual Farm Day, to be held this year on Saturday, Oct. 20. The public is invited to come tour the 80 year-old historic property on Farm Day and see living examples of how farm life used to be when Carl Peinhardt first began farming the land in 1933.
