The Cullman Times
Drawings crowds in the past as large as 10,000 people, Cullman’s Youthquake returns to the Cullman County Fairgrounds on Saturday.
The Christian outdoor concert event is headlined by well-known Christian band, the Newsboys, and accompanied by For King And Country, Rapture Ruckus, Moriah Peters, and the Generation Band. Organizer Shane Quick said they are hoping for another successful event with several big names in Christian music venturing down to Cullman. The music gets under way at noon.
“We’re expecting another great turnout. It looks like perfect weather conditions and a big weekend for Cullman,” Quick said. “Being from Cullman, it’s fun to see Cullman growing as an event city, especially with outdoor events.”
The 2012 event was headlined by Switchfoot. Even with inclement weather issues nearly 9,000 people made their way to the concert. Quick said following last year’s event, improvement was already being made for the 2013 rally. Quick also organizes Cullman’s Rock The South concert series.
“In the 12 years we’ve been doing this event, the weather has only affected two festivals,” he said. “Most festival producers would take two out of 12 every day. The weather looks great for the event. It will get a little cooler that night, so we encourage people to bring sleeves for night time.”
The festivities involved with Youthquake are becoming a yearly tradition many people look forward to, Quick said.
“It’s like a big family reunion,” Quick said. “All the people involved with the event look forward to it. You get to see a lot of familiar faces. We also hope to have around 10,000 in attendance.”
Youthquake 2013’s Bible verse is Acts 4:31 stating, “..... The place where they gathered was shaken.”
