CULLMAN — Memorial Day weekend Smith Lake festival: Celebrate Memorial Day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 25, at Smith Lake Park. Events to include arts/crafts vendors, golf cart parade, ice cream eating contest, bike parade, milk chugging contest (all free entry).

No gate fee. Entertainment noon to 9 p.m. with Wayne Abbott (Willie Nelson tribute artist), the Heaton Brothers Band, Blake Scott Band and more. Pool open, putt-putt golf and kids rides.

Sunday, May 26, is Bluegrass Day. Bring lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

CWAC outdoor pools opening: The Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center will open its pools and waterpark for Memorial Day weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for the summer season. Day passes are available for just $10. Memberships for individuals and families may be purchased at the AC’s front desk.

Regular pool hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Nesmith Pool will also from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission on opening day is just 25 cents/person. Regular hours at this site are 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Hanceville pool open: The Hanceville Pool will open at noon Saturday. Hours of operation are from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Pool is at 113 Michelle St. NW, Hanceville 35077. For more information, contact Hanceville Parks and Recreation office at 256-352-1205.

Autism support group cookout: The Cullman Area Autism Networking Group will hold a family cookout from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the pavilion at the Margaret Jean Jones Center, 1807 Beech Ave. SE, Cullman 35055.
