Special entertainment: East Elementary students will perform an adapted version of “The Sound of Music” at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 and at 11 a.m. Nov. 17 at the school. Open to the public. $5 admission for patrons older than 5 years. All proceeds will go to future productions by the students (spring 2013: “Seussical Jr.”).
Arts and crafts show: The Vinemont Band Boosters will hold an arts and crafts show from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 16, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17, at the McGukin Civic Center, 510 5th St. SW, Cullman 35055. Free admission. Many items, including holiday items, will make great gifts! Concessions are available; lunch items include loaded baked potato and taco soup. Door prizes will be awarded; entertainment provided. Proceeds to benefit the Vinemont Eagle Band program.

Chamber seeking full-time tourism director; creates new board
The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce is ramping up its focus on tourism, and is now seeking a full-time tourism director. The agency has also created a new, 11-person tourism board to focus solely on promoting travel and tourism in the area.
Plans to add a full-time tourism director have been in the works for almost a year, in cooperation with the City of Cullman and Cullman County Commission. -
Unsheltered International leads local effort to help storm victims
From their hometown of Cullman, to Joplin, Mo., and even Staten Island, NY., Dr. Travis Sharpe and members of Unsheltered International have provided hot meals, shelter, and delivered supplies to those in need after a natural disaster.
