Community dance: The Midway Community Center will hold a dance at 7 p.m. featuring the Baileyton Boys band. Admission is $4; all proceeds go to upkeep of community center, 164 Midway Road, Union Grove 35175.

City School Board meet: A special called board meeting has been cancelled.

Informational meeting for WSCC trip to China: Wallace State Community College's trip abroad program will hold an informational meeting about the May 2014 trip to China. Those interested in learning more about the trip can attend a meeting at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in the Recital Hall of the Burrow Center for Fine and Performing Arts. CRMC German buffet: Cullman Regional Medical Center will serve a traditional German buffet dinner and entertainment during Oktoberfest celebration Tuesday, Oct. 8, in CRMC’s Colonel Cullmann Room in the Community Education Center located in Professional Office Building II. Reservations are available for five seating times: 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Cost for dinner is $12 for adults and children. Here is a peek at the menu: Jager-Schnitzel (tender veal in a creamy-mushroom sauce), Paprika-Schnitzel (chicken in a tomato-based sauce with paprika and red peppers), Himmel und Erde (”Heaven and Earth”, side dish combo of potatoes, apples, bacon and onion), Beschwipste Pflaume (”Tipsy Plum”, braised spiced plums), Rotkohl (braised red cabbage), and Schwarzwalderkirschtorte (”Black Forest Cake”, frosted dark chocolate layers of cake with cherry pie filling, cherry liqueur infused cake).
