Who do you think has the best barbecue in Alabama? Johnny’s Barbecue is representing North Alabama in an online poll allowing anyone to vote in an NCAA basketball tournament style bracket.
Johnny’s barbecue General Manager Josh Wiggins said he is honored that the restaurant has been selected to be a part of the competition.
“We’ve been poking fun with other restaurants, but it’s all friendly competition,” Wiggins said. “We’re good friends with Big Bob’s and others and we’re really just happy to be apart of it.”
Johnny’s Barbecue is family owned, and they are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.
The Alabama Tourism Department is sponsoring the competition. Anyone can go to Facebook.com/AlabamaFood and start voting on Alabama’s best barbecue restaurant.
Voting began on March 11, and each round will be voted on for three days. There are 32 teams and the winning restaurant will be announced on April 8, which is the scheduled Championship day for the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament.
