Former Good Hope clerk to meet with State Ethics Commission

The City of Good Hope was notified by the Alabama State Ethics Commission their former city clerk is scheduled to meet with them in December.

The Good Hope mayor and council turned over information regarding former Good Hope city clerk Lisa Dahlke in reference to the discovery of nearly $3,000 worth of gift card purchases on the city’s Lowe’s charge account in July and her resignation following a three-hour executive session. Mayor Corey Harbison said the investigation is out of city officials’ hands.

“We received a letter from the State Ethics Commission informing us that Lisa Dahlke is going to meet with them in December,” Harbison said. “The city does not wish to comment further because it’s an on-going investigation. Once we turn it over to them, it’s out of our hands and we don’t have anything to do with it. I’ve been fully-cooperative with the investigation and turned all information over to the State Ethics Commission.”

Records obtained by The Times show gift cards were purchased between Dec. 26, 2012 and July 6, 2013 and totaled $2,965. Among the cards purchased were 20 gift cards for Belk, worth a combined $900, and 14 for T. J. Maxx worth a combined $675. All receipts for the gift cards allegedly had the signature of former city clerk.

Attempts to contact Dahlke by phone were not successful.
