The trial of a Baileyton man accused of killing his wife shortly after being released from a Walker County mental hospital last March is slated for the March criminal docket in Cullman County Circuit Court.
Michael Wayne Lindsday, 48, was indicted on a single murder charge last July for the alleged killing of his wife, 31 year-old Tammy Lynn Lindsay, who was found dead at a Baileyton neighbor’s residence on March 15 of last year. Investigators with the Cullman County sheriff’s office said Mrs. Linsday had sustained at least two stab wounds to the neck.
Following a brief stint at UAB Hospital for alleged self-inflicted injuries at the time of his wife’s death, Lindsay was transported to the Cullman County detention center, where he has awaited trial while under a $100,000 cash bond. If his trial proceeds on the upcoming docket, a jury will be struck beginning March 4.
The case has been continued from earlier criminal court dockets. Former Circuit Judge Don Hardeman had ordered a mental evaluation for Lindsay at his arraignment last summer.
Lindsay had been released from Walker Baptist Medical Center only hours before Tammy Lindsay’s death. Two days before she died, Mrs. Lindsay had successfully petitioned former Cullman County probate judge Leah Patterson Lust to order her husband to undergo mental treatment. Lust did not authorize his release.
