CULLMAN —
An Addison man died in a motorcycle crash late Monday night after being pursued by a Cullman County Sheriff’s deputy.
Irving Taylor, 47, died at approximately 9:42 p.m. when he reportedly lost control of his 2012 Yamaha motorcycle and crashed on Beth Street in Cullman. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cullman County Sheriff Mike Rainey said a deputy spotted Taylor speeding and driving erratically on Alabama Hwy. 157 and pursued him. The motorcycle then started driving through the neighborhoods around Saint Joseph Street and Beth Street, which is when he lost control.
Cullman Police were en route to assist with the chase, though it ended before additional cars arrived. The Alabama State Troopers are investigating the exact cause of the crash.
“One of our officers observed the motorcycle come by driving at a high rate of speed, very reckless, and initiated pursuit,” Rainey said. “At the intersection of Beth and Rosemont he lost control and went up a bank there and flipped several times. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. It’s so tragic.”
