The Cullman City Street Department will be working on 4th St. SE at 3rd Ave., weather permitting.


Today, expect wet showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Great day to be a duck!

Tonight, we’re looking at a 40 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 63.

Saturday: Wading into the day with a chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 73. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Saturday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind around 10 mph.

Sunday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 70. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Sunday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Rummage sale: An inside rummage sale (rain or shine) will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 11-12 at 617 Hopewell Road, Hanceville 35077. Proceeds will go to missionaries’ trip to Alaska. Info: Beth Lake at 256-347-7621.

Retirement reception: Friends and family of Judge Don Hardeman and Circuit Clerk Robert Bates will gather for a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in the large third-floor courtroom, in the Cullman County Courthouse, 500 2nd Ave. SW, Cullman 35055.

What to do until Monday:

Sign up for pine needle basket making class: The Cullman Fiber Guild will present this class from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Peinhardt Living History Farm Museum building at 1711 Tally Ho St., Cullman 35055. Must be at least 14 years old. Cost is $1 for materials, to be paid to instructor (Margene Trimble) at beginning of workshop. Bring sack lunch.
