CPD requests help in Basch Brothers burglary

Approximately $33,000 worth of equipment was stolen from Basch Brothers Powersports on Alabama Highway 157 three weeks ago, and Cullman investigators hope to use recently obtained surveillance footage to identify the suspects.

Two vehicles, a blue pick-up truck and a black Suburban, were caught on security cameras entering and leaving the business between 6-7 a.m. on Sunday, January 26 at a fenced-in area. The blue truck left with a Polaris on an attached trailer and the SUV stole a utility trailer from the business and also loaded a Polaris into the back of it.

Investigator Marsha Norris said they are close to identifying the Suburban driver, but are requesting help from the public.

“We have a dozen leads and this burglary could have people involved from four different counties,” Norris said. “We are asking for help from anyone who knows the identity of the drivers of these vehicles, or the owners of the vehicles.”

Norris said after the suspects left Basch Brothers, they headed west on Alabama Highway 157. Investigators have been working the case for over three weeks and hope the surveillance footage could be the final step in closing it.

“The Cullman Police Department is offering a reward that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this theft.” Norris said.
