A Walmart Express expects to be completed by late fall in the town on the corner of Highway 55 West and Alabama Highway 31 across from the Falkville post office.
Falkville town clerk Dawn Estes said the business’s estimated cost is approximately $1 million and the construction plans will begin next week. The store will be 11,900 square feet and local zoning committees plan to meet to discuss parking and other aspects of construction.
“It will be a huge asset for Falkville,” Estes said. “Instead of having to travel to the Hartselle location, you will save time and gas and shop locally.”
The Walmart Express will include an accompanying gas station with four pumps, a walk-in pharmacy, grocery, produce, and retail sections within the store.
The announcement was made in the Falkville town hall Thursday afternoon during a public commission meeting.
