Man arrested on meth manufacturing charge

CULLMAN — A Cullman man has been arrested on a meth manufacturing charge after an active meth lab was found in his van.

Dustin Sparkman, 36, of Cullman, was arrested on Tuesday at 1:55 p.m. by the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.

“We received a call from a business owner in the Jones Chapel area of a suspicious vehicle and subject parked in the parking lot of a nearby business,” Sheriff Mike Rainey said. “The officers arrived and questioned the subject and the subject gave consent for them to search his van.”

Rainey said the deputies found an active meth lab, coffee filters and glass jar. The items tested positive for ephedrine.

“They also found a plastic baggy containing a white substance that tested positive for methamphetamines,” Rainey said. “The subject was arrested on probable cause for manufacturing meth and brought into custody. It was good work of the patrol officer Kevin Lewis, and Sergeant Terry Smith.”

CNET was called to the scene to take control of the meth lab. Sparkman is confined under a $1 million bond at the Cullman County Detention Center.

The incident took place at 15 County Road in the Jones Chapel area.
