Today: Today Sunny, with a high near 54. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Cullman Farmers’ Co-Op Market: The old Farmers’ market is open Monday through Saturday. Expected hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. — which varies with different farmers. It is located on Young St. NE between 1st and 2nd avenues. Just down from Sno Biz and Depot Park, with parking on Young St. NE.

Ringling Bros.’ circus tickets drawing: Want to see the circus? The Cullman Times is now accepting entry forms for chances to win a free Ringling Bros.’ and Barnum and Bailey circus ticket. The Greatest Show On Earth will appear at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville April 2-6. Drawing for the tickets will be Friday, March 28 at noon. How to get them? Just come by our office at 300 4th Ave. SE, Cullman 35055, and subscribe/renew and fill out an entry form or visit Winners will be notified by email or phone. One entry per person.

4-H Chick Project; deadline to order chicks March 28: The 4-H Chick project is designed to teach kids the recommended management practices of growing and raising chickens. They will learn about poultry management, how to produce healthy chickens, develop an awareness for business management, record keeping skills (income and expenses) and gain a sense of pride in their accomplishment.

Your child/children between the ages of 9 and 19 may participate.

The Cooperative Extension 4-H Representatives, Jay Conway and Raydonna Sims will be taking orders for these baby chicks. Delivery will be the first week in May. Deadline for ordering chicks is March 28. If your child would like to participate and does not have an application form, you may pick one up at the Cullman County Extension Office any time before the March 28 deadline. Cost is $25 and this includes a class, 10 chickens, and the show and sale.

The program will have a mandatory meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19. The meeting is a learning session to prepare your child/children to take care of and show  their chickens. All children must be accompanied by an adult at this meeting.
