Phyllis Little will soon have a little more on her plate of things to do as head of the local Emer-gency Manage-ment Agency.
The director of Cullman County's EMA recently was elected president of the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers (AAEM). The election was conducted at the association's annual conference.
"I'm really honored," said Little, who has previously served as secretary/treasurer and board member for the organization. "It's great to be a part of an organization that has helped raise the professionalism in emergency management."
Little holds 16 years’ experience in emergency management — nine of those in her current position. She also holds the Advanced Level Emergency Manager certification through AAEM, as well as the Certified Local Emergency Manager designation through the Alabama Emergency Management Agency. She is also past president of the North Alabama Emergency Management Mutual Assistance Association.
"Phyllis is a tremendous asset to this organization, and her leadership will mean a lot in the coming year," Mike Evans, current AAEM president said in a press release.
Little said the entire mission of AAEM is to raise professionalism and to be a support group to EMAs across the state.
Little added she's currently assisting Evans in his duties as president, "to help get my feet on the ground." She said she will take over as president at the association's annual conference next summer.
