CULLMAN — Good morning, readers, this is what's happening in your county today:


Today:  Sunny, with a high near 56. West wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: A slight chance of rain showers before midnight, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers between midnight and 3 a.m., then a slight chance of snow showers after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

For tomorrow, get your scarf, gloves and winter footwear out for Wednesday morn. Pack a hot lunch and a thermos of your favorite hot beverage...Brrr!

CCSF: The Cullman City Schools Foundation will meet at noon at the Central Office, 301 1st St. NE, Cullman 35055 in the Bearcat conference room. Lunch proivded. All board members should attend. Info: Dawn Klinger at 256-590-3159.

Community meeting to choose superintendent of schools: Cullman County Schools is currently conducting a search for a new superintendent. The community is invited to a meeting from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. and 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Cullman County Board of Education central office, 402 Arnold St. NE, Cullman 35055.

Other meetings to follow are:

• 1 to 2 p.m. for school and system administrators;

• 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. for public officials;

• 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. for certified staff;

• 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for support staff.

The meetings and survey focus on identifying the experiences, skills and traits Cullman County residents believe the next superintendent should have. Also addressed will be what challenges the next leader will need to address in the first 18 months or so on the job. All input is anonymous.
