A four-month-old child injured in a Wednesday morning crash continues to recover, after being transferred to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
The infant Brayden Stanley is suffering from bleeding on his brain caused in the crash, though his family is hopeful he will be discharged and able to return home in the coming days.
The two parents, Jefferson County residents Ashlyn Stephens and Hunter Stanley, sustained bruised bones and other mild injuries in the crash. They have since been discharged and are by Brayden’s bedside.
Hunter, a soldier in the U.S. Army, only returned home last Friday from military service. He met Brayden for the first time a week ago today.
The crash occurred at the 304 Exit of Interstate 65 in Good Hope at approximately 10:20 a.m., with the vehicle flipping off the ramp and landing upside down in a nearby ditch.
When reached Thursday, Hunter said he hopes Brayden’s situation will improve soon.
“Things are getting better,” he said.
As friends and family wait for news, Hunter’s mother Lynn Maddox Davis has taken to Facebook as a rallying point for updates and prayers. By Thursday afternoon, her page was filled with dozens of well-wishes and posts.
“I am so sorry about what you and your family is going through,” Christy Price Latham wrote. “You all are in my thoughts and prayers!”
