Community Concert Assn. welcomes Masters of Motown to WSCC for Monday show

When a show rolls into town, and it’s coming with a name like “Masters of Motown,” there’s a pretty good chance you’ll want to see it.

The Cullman Community Concert Association thinks so.

Masters of Motown, an ensemble that brings music’s watershed Motor City years to life, will highlight the association’s second concert of the 2012-2013 season Monday night.

If it came out of Detroit on either side of the 1970s, if it’s stood the test of time, and if it changed the shape of pop music in America, it’ll probably on the menu when the Masters take the stage of the Betty Leeth Haynes auditorium on the campus of Wallace State Community College.

The 10-member cast captures the unmistakable styles and sounds of the Motor City era, covering the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, the Jacksons, Diana Ross and much more.

Think of it as the coolest history lesson you’ll ever hear, and probably the most effective — because it’s one lesson you’ll likely remember for a long time to come.

Masters of Motown performs Monday night at 7 p.m. Individual tickets are $20 apiece, or $10 for students with valid student ID. Tickets will be available at the event, held at the Betty Leeth Haynes auditorium at Wallace State.
