CULLMAN —
Citizens in Cullman County will now have another option when searching for a wireless provider.
Today, AT&T is opening the doors to its new 4,000 square-foot store located on Cherokee Avenue. And to celebrate, they have a list of stock car racing activities planned from 3-6 p.m., including an appearance by the retired No. 5 Kellogg's stock car and a Talladega ticket giveaway every 30 minutes.
"We appreciate AT&T's continuing investments in our community," Cullman Mayor Max Townson said in a statement released by the company. "The new storefront presence conveniently allows customers in the Cullman area to walk in and get their hands on the latest technology. It also helps support the critical sales tax base that makes it possible for our city to provide services to its citizens."
Since the devastating April 27, 2011, tornado, AT&T has rebuilt and enhanced the mobile network, adding new sites as well as more capacity and mobile Internet to nearly 50 cell sites in Cullman County.
"The Alabama Legislature is working to keep our state as technologically advanced as possible,"said District 12 State Representative Mac Buttram. "We're making sure public policy continues to encourage private investment in our communications infrastructure. Theses are the results we like to see."
Rick Rudden, area retail sales manager for AT&T, said the newest retail store is an other example of the company's commitment and investment in the Cullman community.
"We're focused on making our customers' experience exceptional, and for our retail stores, that begins with a convenient location, inviting store layout, and helpful, knowledgeable staff."
