Cullman City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jan Harris has announced her retirement, effective September 1.
Harris has been with the system for more than nine years, and in that time has helped mold it into one of the premiere the systems in the state. Last school year, the system notched the second-highest test scores in the state behind Mountain Brook City Schools.
The Cullman City School board plans to start a search for Harris’ successor immediately, with hopes of naming a new superintendent in July. Board members have pledged to make the search a very public process, with community feedback sessions already in the works.
